Many of my 17 years in real estate was done from home. When my youngest went off to college in 2021, I suddenly found my home a little emptier than usual. I felt a desire to get back into an office instead of working from home.
Thanks to my friend Jaime Silveira of Silveira Consulting, I was able to sublet a small office space from her as a launching pad in the Las Islitas shopping center on C Street. It allowed me to test the waters to see if this would be an appropriate fit for me. It was great working beside friends I could trust as well as have fun with and enabled me to be sure this was what I wanted. Well, it was, and it wasn’t long before I set the loftier goal of acquiring my very own building. This was also something I wanted to accomplish as my husband and I approach retirement, and knew it wise to buy something that generates income. So, I set out to do just that.
